Some things that COMMUNITY BARGAIN HUNTER is doing differently is we are offering full color on everything, meaning there is no up charge for color ads. We are doing our paper in a magazine style (mini tab) which means a full page in our publication is the equivalent size of a half page in other community and shopper publications. The benefit is that for a lower cost an advertiser may have a page all to themselves.
If a regular newspapers' draw is the articles, a shopper newspapers' draw is the classifieds. For that reason we pioneered the market on classified ads by offering private party (individuals) free classified ads up to 25 words. This will be a huge draw for our customers and with so many classifieds it will create a draw for those searching for products and services. We do have paid attention getters, but we have kept the costs extremely low. On the commercial end, we offer the first 25 words for any business or commercial advertiser for only $3.00, with low cost attention getters. Again this will be a huge draw for our readers. Beyond that, what differentiates us from our competitors just a little bit further is that we won't have junk national ads throughout our publication. One major drawback of our competitors are those ads that read "Make Thousands of $$$ stuffing envelopes" or "Seized cars only $50". These ads detract from readership and wont be in our publication.
The standard distribution method for free publications in our area is via newspaper racks in various businesses, gas stations, and grocery stores. We have already begun establishing these distribution points and have over 600 distribution points in Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Rockton, Roscoe, S. Beloit, and Belvidere. What our competition isn't doing, however is direct mail. We will be direct mailing our publication to a different 1,000 people each week and we hope to increase that number as our paper grows.
The response we have had to this point from our clients has been very positive. We feel we have an excellent working model here and would love to be YOUR classifieds or YOUR business advertising outlet. As our paper grows so will our costs and pricing, however we will remember those businesses that began with us and of course we will alwayrs remember the individuals in our community who wish to sell their items through our classifieds.
